Wiring Instructions |
NOTE: Select wire size adequate for load. Refer to NEC tables, Article 400. References to National Electrical Code is applicable to installations in the United States only. |
CORD RANGE: |
AWG 18/3 SV to AWG 12/3 SO. 0.600 inches. (15.24mm) max. dia. for 15A, or 20A, two- or three-wire devices. |
Important: Disconnect power before wiring. |
1. Loosen three face screws and remove front section. Loosen wire clamp screws as necessary and thread wire thru back housing. |
2. Remove cord outer jacket on wire 7/8" (22.2mm). Strip bare each copper conductor 5/16" (7.9mm) and twist strands. |
3. insert stripped wires into terminal clamps on front section, taking care that there are no loose strands. If device has green screw, connect green (grounding) wire under clamp with green colored screw. Tighten screw securely. |
- For 125V devices: connect white (neutral) wire under terminal clamp with silver screw, and black (hot) wire under terminal clamp with brass screw. Tighten screws securely. |
- For 250V devices: connect black wire under either brass terminal clamp and white wire under the other brass terminal clamp. Tighten screws securely. |
4. Reassemble device. Front section is keyed to fit properly in one location only. Tighten face screws, then tighten cord clamp. |
5. Make certain that cord connections on opposite end, where wired to plug or appliance, follow same polarity (as #3 above). |
6. To be installed or checked by electrician or qualified person only. |
CAUTlON: A 2 wire non-polarized plug is for use where polarization is not necessary according to the National Electric Code. lt must not be used on an extension cord with a polarized connector on the other end. |
NOTE: A non-polarized plug has each blade the same width. A polarized plug has one blade which is wider than the other blade. |
WARNING: Failure to wire as instructed may cause personal injury or damage to device or equipment. |
